Dye-ing with Dragons! Yarn Dye Class

C$100.00

Yarn Dying Class

Date: Saturday, November 1, 2025

Time: 10:00am - 1:00pm

Location: SMAY Crafting Hub

We all know hand painted yarn is a dream to work with, now you can have all the fun of creating it yourself!

Starting with only the basic colours we’ll learn how to combine them to make all the colours of the rainbow and then squirt them all over yarn!

Choose from fingering, DK or worsted weight skeins to design your masterpiece onto.

All the dye, pans, squirters, instruction and shenanigans are included in the class. There are a few different weights of yarn available for $30 a skein (and yes, you can totally dye more than one, even in different bases if you want, at an additional cost!)

Also there are a few things you may want to bring - messy clothes (or apron), shoes you don’t mind getting dye on, any pictures that inspire you, your imagination and, most importantly, your sense of adventure!

About the Dyer: Annika from Dragon Strings

My dye studio is called Dragon Strings, and I’ve been putting dye to sting since 2015. I’m a passionate creator with a background in design, who is very strong in colour-theory. I was looking to get out of the corporate world and kind fell into dying after taking a class. I saw that I could use my background to create yarns that break the mould of ‘boring’ by dying one of a kind, funky, inspired yarns that are super awesome to work with and have colours that will knock your socks off! (Even if they are handmade)

I do just about everything that has to do with string, from fluff onwards. I have dabbled in knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving, macramé, knot work and let’s not forget the dream catchers and friendship bracelets of my misspent youth. I’m mostly a knitter, with favourites being whatever has caught my eye at the moment, but I do produce a staggering number of both hats and socks every year.

Additional Costs: First skein included, additional skeins available for $30 each on day paid 100% direct to Dragon Strings

Length of Time: 2-3 hours in class and then pick up of yarns later (needs to cook for an hour, then wash it)

Numbers: Minimum 5, Maximum 8

*If minimum is not met, a refund will be issued
