Fission Knitting

In this 2 hour class, you’ll learn the fundamental skills required to get you started with Fission Knitting.
Fission Knitting, created by Toronto designer Mary W. Martin, is a reversbile colourwork technique were the fabric is worked with yarns held double to create a marled effect. Design element stitches are created by slipping stitches, located on both sides of the fabric. Stitches are seperated to work each design, which can be different on each side of the fabric.
Duration/Sessions: 2 hour session
Project: N/A - sample Fission Knitted piece created
Skill Level: Experienced knitter, familiar with knit, purl, knitting through back loop
Required Materials:
Needles: 4.5mm/ US7 needles
2 solid coloured contrasting yarn in sock/fingering to DK
Weights (Smooth/not textured yarn is recommended – 10g maximum)
Cable needle, Removable stitch marker
